Is Rwanda a Safe and Politically Stable Destination to Travel to?
Safety in Rwanda
Despite common misconceptions, both Uganda and Rwanda have had stable, progressive and democratic governments for over ten years. While it is true that both countries have had their fair share of political and racial instability during the 1970’s – 1990’s, peace has now returned. Security measures in the national parks have been significantly enhanced. You should take the usual precautions when travelling abroad in unfamiliar surroundings. You should use your common sense and do not draw attention to cameras, video equipment, jewellery, etc. Do not flaunt money and always use safes when provided at hotels/lodges.
Road conditions, particularly in Uganda, can be in poor condition and drives can be slow and bumpy. That said, however, this is slowly improving.
