Vakona Forest Lodge, Andasibe National Park

Vakona Forest Lodge is designed in line with local Malagasy architecture. The ten bungalows and 14 double rooms offer the traveller the desired comfort of ensuite bathrooms, and verandas looking out into the forest of Andasibe National Park. Warmed by the central fireplace the dining room offers views outside whilst keeping warm or alternatively one can relax on the veranda that overlooks the lake.

Vakona Forest Lodge is a comfortable eco-lodge comprising 28 Malagasy style bungalows scattered in a planted garden of palm trees and bougainvilleas.

Style: A comfortable eco-lodge.

Accommodation & facilities: The lodge has 28 Malagasy style bungalows including 10 family bungalows with mezzanine, 6 double bungalows and 5 twin bungalows and 7 3 bed bungalows. Each bungalow has a terrace with a small external living room, bathroom with warm water
and individual toilets, heating, a personal safe and a mini-bar.

There is a small library.

Temperatures can be very fresh in July and in August so be prepared!

Dining: The restaurant at Vakona Forest Lodge overlooks the surrounding forest and lake and caters to the following tastes: European, Chinese and of course Malagasy.

Activities: Activities include canoeing, squash, trekking, horse riding, swimming, bowls, table tennis and billiards and there is a playing field for children.

For really close up lemur viewing the lodge has it's own 'Lemur Island' where you can feed the friendly creatures as they jump on your shoulders. There is also a crocodile farm and numerous birds and reptiles.
