Isalo Ranch, Isalo National Park

Isalo Ranch

Set in a wonderful garden, full of fruit trees and herbs, Isalo ranch is a peaceful and relaxing place to stay during your travels of Southern Madagascar. The ranch is basic, but comfortable and with the spectacular jagged rock formations and varied terrain of Isalo National Park forming the enchanting back drop, it is not to be missed. Discover some of Madagascar’s endemic species in the park, or sit on your private terrace overlooking the lush garden watching the local chameleons hunting for their next meal.

Style: A comfortable and charming ranch very close to Isalo National Park.

Setting: The ranch is just 2km from the entrance to Isalo National Park and 5km from the town of Ranohira, a beautiful and diverse area.

Accommodation & Facilities: The 20 bungalows have capacity for up to 40 guests and are all separated from one another. They are built in the traditional Bara Style with clay walls and thatched roofs and are en-suite (including hot water) with their own private terrace overlooking the gardens. Rooms are very comfortable but, in true ranch style, have no TV, mini bar or telephone.

The main restaurant and bar area is nicely decorated with a wooden theme and the swimming pool has fantastic views of Isalo, with lots of seating arranged so guests can fully enjoy it.

Dining: Three meals are provided per day with a large choice between Madagascan, European and Chinese cuisine.

Activities: There is trekking in the stunning Isalo National Park where you will find some of Madagascar’s endemic plants and wildlife and the local villagers put on 3 or 4 nights a week singing and cabaret shows for guests. Swimming here is irresistible with such a breathtaking view!

Child Policy: Children are welcome but there are no facilities

Responsible Travel: The entire camp is solar powered.
