Congo/Central African Republic - Overview
The Tri-National Park of the Central African Basin includes the Dzanga Ndoki National Park in the Central African Republic, the Nouabale Ndoki National Park in the Republic of Congo and the Lobeke National Park in Cameroon.
A stunning destination to go on safari but not for the first time African traveller, the Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic offer some amazing wildlife viewing. Access to track the only habituated lowland gorillas, wild chimpanzees, forest bais full of elephants and a variety of other endemic forest fauna and flora makes this a "must do" for the intrepid traveller. Only a privileged few have had the honour of visiting areas such as Dzangha-Sangha National Park, Mbeli Bai and Bai Hokou Research Centre. Safaris are run on fixed departure dates with specialist leaders and local guides.
What to expect: Long and uncomfortable journeys by planes, 4x4's and pirogues make this an experience not easily forgotten; is is however worth it for the diversity of wildlife that you are likely to come across. Accommodation is of a basic but comfortable standard with a variety of lodges and camps used in order to access the best wildlife viewing sites.
