Day 3
Today you have the privilege of visiting Miki's village. Miki is a native of Borneo that we work with. Living in a village at the foot of Mount Kinabalu with three rivers bringing down crystal clear water from the mountain through his land. Miki admits he almost made the disastrous mistake of cutting down the entire forest for commercial fresh water fish ponds. We are in the vanguard of eco-tourism in this area through the work Miki and his people are doing to preserve the environment and develop a sustainable tourism product run by and for the benefit of the indigenous people. Start with a short trek uphill to have refreshment at Miki's house. Spend the day trekking with him or one of his brothers across mountain ranges, through rice fields and primary forest. A great day spent with the locals getting to know their culture, beliefs and the local environment. Having crossed several mountain streams you reach Miki's Campsite where you set up camp for the evening.
O/N This evening you spend the evening out in the jungle, a truly unique experience, helping to build your own camp in the jungle. Waking up to the sounds of the forest is a remarkable experience and one that you will truly never forget! (B,L,D)
Day 4
Jungle trek activities in the morning including spotting for wildlife and plants such as orchids, and pitcher plants etc. then back to your jungle guide house by mid afternoon. You then have the opportunity to either pass the night at Miki's House or alternatively we can transfer you to a local lodge in the area.

Day 5
Today you set off on the climb of Mt Kinabalu! No visit to Sabah is quite complete without climbing this famous mountain which at 4,101m. / 13,455 ft makes it South-East Asia's highest peak. The mountain and its surroundings make up the Kinabalu National Park, a nature reserve covering a total area of 754 sq km or 291 sq mile. The 5.25 mile trail from Timphon Gate to Lows Peak, the summit, takes you through tropical rain forest, montaine forest, cloud forest to sub alpine vegetation at the peak. Any reasonably fit and energetic person can climb Kinabalu and the reward waiting at the summit is a spectacular sunrise.
O/N at Panar Laban 10,500 ft. or similar (B)
Day 6
Start trek for the summit at 0300 hours. Watch the spectacular sunrise from the highest point in South East Asia...! then head down to Park HQ and transfer back to Kota Kinabalu mid afternoon. Spend the day relaxing at your accommodation and having a wash! Day 7
Overland transfer to Sepilok Nature Resort. Upon arrival here have a rest and then depending on how energetic you're feeling either go on a cultural visit to the Water Village & Chinese Temple or trek 10 minutes on wooden plank walks to witness the feeding of the Orangutans in the sanctuary. This is a great experience as previously captive Orangutans (through deforestation, poaching, etc) are being re-habituated to their natural surroundings for release when they are once again capable of supporting themselves.
