Day 1
Orangutan, Sepilok, BorneoMet at Sandakan airport by your driver and guide and transfer to Sepilok Nature Reserve where you will have time to relax after your flight or, depending on time available, visit the Orang-utan sanctuary.

Day 2
Early morning bird watching. After breakfast, transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary. Trek ten minutes through the rain forest on wooden plank walks to witness the feeding of the orang utans at 10.00am. Return to Sepilok Nature Resort for lunch. Afternoon, a guided tour to Sandakan town, Water Village & Chinese Temple or return to the Sanctuary for afternoon feeding at the Orang Utan Sanctuary .

Day 3  
Transfer 110 km to Sukau where we take a 10 minute boat ride to Sukau Lodge. As dusk falls take a river cruise using silent electric motor in search of wild Proboscis monkeys as they settle down on treetops along the Kinabatangan River. Return for solar heated hot shower, candle light dinner and slide show conducted by naturalist.

After breakfast transfer to Sukau by boat and overland to Gomantong Caves. Trek 20 minutes through the rain forest to the cave entrance. Your guide will brief you on the cave fauna including bats, swiftlets and crabs among others and their contribution to maintaining a balanced ecology and significance to the local economy. When in season, witness the collecting of birds' nests by the local people using bamboo ladders and poles. We have seen Orang Utans here too. O/N Sukau Lodge (B/L/D)

Day 5
Early start to transfer by road to the jetty (approx 1.5hrs) and then transfer by boat (approx 2hrs) to Lankayan for diving. You will arrive around lunchtime, have the afternoon at your leisure or plan how you would like to spend the next 24hrs. Included in the cost are 3 boat dives and as many shore dives as requested.

Day 6
Lankayan Island Chalet, BorneoSpend your day relaxing on Lankayan. For those that wish to, Lankayan is excellent for diving. There is the added bonus that you will also be able to dive with the whale sharks in March, April, and May (sightings cannot be guaranteed); an unforgettable experience! Alternatively one can relax on the beach, go snorkelling, swimming, hire sea kayaks or go windsurfing.

Day 7
Today you leave the idyllic island of Lankayan and transfer to Danum Valley. Once you arrive back on the mainland it is a 3hr drive through palm oil plantations and logging fields to Danum Valley. This is an eye opening drive as you see the effects of these industries on the local environment and populations. On arrival at your rainforest lodge you will have time to sit back and relax and enjoy the surroundings. Danum Valley is one of the best remaining examples of how Borneo's forests used to be, with a thick tropical canopy and a variety of wildlife.

Day 8
Set up to protect the area from logging, Danum Valley encompasses 43 kilometres squared of pristine rainforest. Aside from this the conservation area has a variety of wildlife including, orang-utans, a variety of birdlife, clouded leopard, elephant and if one is very lucky the Sumatran rhino. With both a canopy walkway and a viewpoint which looks out over the jungle canopy and the dramatic mountains this conservation area is definitely worth dropping in on.

Pygmy Elephant, BorneoDay 9
Activities are as previous day. Danum Valley is renowned for its excellent birding and counts 275 species of birds and 109 species of mammals among its residents. Danum Valley is a world renowned birding destination.

Day 10
Today you fly from Sandakan to Kota Kinabalu where you overnight before your return flight home tomorrow. Upon arrival there are various extra activities that can be arranged upon request including, local white water rafting, visiting the local markets or just exploring the local countryside!

Day 11
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
