Lankayan Island, Western Borneo

Lankayan Island

Lankayan Island with its fantastic white sandy beaches is the perfect place to relax at the end of your Borneo holiday. A great diving location or alternatively just sit back and enjoy the beach and the turquoise waters. This is the preferred location to also spot turtles as nowadays Lankayan has its own turtle hatchery. Timber chalets with ensuite bathrooms provide comfortable accommodation.

A jewel like tiny unpopulated island in the Sulu Sea, an hour and a half boat ride north of Sandakan; Lankayan has been declared part of an immense Marine Protected Area. This peaceful, untouched paradise is ringed by white sandy beaches.

Turtle watching is possible, particularly between June to September when the eggs hatch.
