Rwanda - Accommodation

Accommodation in Rwanda varies with a number of options available. Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge offers the utmost in luxury (which is reflected in the price!) in close proximity to the gorilla park; Volcanoes Virunga Lodge situated in one of the most stunning locations in the whole of Africa provides an eco-friendly option and Gorilla's Nest a mid-range choice with close proximity to the gorilla park of Parc National des Volcans.

Throughout the rest of Rwanda accommodation varies in standards and it is evident that the majority of lodge investment has been concentrated around the gorilla park area. Other areas of interest that are worth visiting but have varying standards of accommodation are Akagera National Park with the lovely located Akagera Game Lodge and Nyungwe Forest where it is possible to track chimpanzees whilst staying at the locally run Gisakura Guesthouse.

Volcanoes Virunga Lodge

Volcanoes Virunga Lodge is a comfortable eco-lodge located on a hillside overlooking the Virunga Volcanoes and Lakes Ruhondo and Bulera. 360 degree breathtaking views make this one of the top lodge destinations in Africa. Eight bandas with private verandas offer views over the lakes and volcanoes; open fire places in the lounge and dining room are a warm welcome after a days tracking the mountain gorillas. Other activities include visiting Dian Fossey's grave, tracking the golden monkeys.

Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge

Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is a luxury lodge located at the foot of Mt Sabyinyo and an ideal location from where to be based for your gorilla tracking safari. Luxury bandas with open fire places and ensuite bathrooms.

Gorilla's Nest

Gorilla's Nest is a comfortable lodge located at the foot of the Virunga volcanoes and only 5 mins drive from the park headquarters. Rooms have hot and cold water and electricity. Mid range but easy to access the park for gorilla tracking.
