Craig Kaufman
Safari Expert
After graduating in Tourism Management and Human Geography, Craig moved to Uganda where he co-designed and managed a lodge on the banks of the River Nile and trained as a bird and wildlife guide. He then moved on
to manage two safari lodges in Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls National Parks and has journeyed extensively throughout Uganda.
Craig’s travels have also included Australia and inter-railing through central & Eastern Europe. He has also Grey hounded his way through the U.S.A. and hitch-hiked across Norway!
Craig has just returned from an amazing safari to Tanzania were he assessed many of the fantastic lodges and wildlife that exist within the Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tarangire National Park and Zanzibar.
Craig is a passionate bird watcher and he frequently impresses the rest of the team with his detailed knowledge of some of the lesser known varieties!
Favorite destinations: Kidepo Valley and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks, Uganda; Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda.
Best Travel Experience: Hitchhiking the length and breadth of Uganda, bouncing around on the back of old pickup trucks full of locals along pot-holed roads and tracking the awe-inspiring Mountain Gorillas!
Worst Travel Experience: My worst travel experience was in 2002 when I was Greyhounding through Australia. I had just telephoned my family from a service station on the East Coast near Noosa Heads. I then travelled on the Greyhound to the backpackers in Noosa where I realised that I had left my wallet in the telephone box at the service station! I spent the next 24 hours ringing the U.K, having to anxiously wait for the banks to open, in order to cancel all my bank cards. In the end, AUS$1,000.00 had been stolen.
